About Express Bus Services
Parking and Transportation Services and D & F Travel is pleased to offer express transportation from UB's North Campus to Rochester, Syracuse and Albany, and direct service to New York City on select weekends and holidays throughout the semester.
The University at Buffalo has contracted with D & F Travel, Inc.
to provide charter transportation to these locations. D & F has been serving WNY locations since 1986.

Who may ride the Express Bus?
The Weekend/Holiday Express Bus is exclusively available to all UB students, faculty, staff and their friends and family. Each University member purchasing a bus ticket can purchase one additional ticket for a friend or family member. At least one UB photo ID card is required to board the bus. Guests need photo ID.
Destinations
The Express Bus departs from the Spaulding/Wilkeson end of the Ellicott Tunnel on the North Campus at 11 am on the scheduled departure date and drops off at the following locations:
One bus makes stops at each of the following locations:
- Rochester: Holiday Inn Express, 7502 County Rd. 42, Victor
- Syracuse: Transportation Center, 131 Alliance Bank Parkway
- Albany: Sears parking lot, 1425 Central Ave., near Wolf Rd., Albany
One bus has direct service to New York City: One Penn Plaza, 33rd St. (between 7 & 8)
Pick up on the return date will be from the same location at 10 am from New York City and 10 am from Albany. 1 pm from Syracuse and 3 pm from Rochester. Return drop-off in the Ellicott Tunnel.
A limited amount of tickets are available.
Tickets are round trip, valid only on selected dates. There are no refunds under any circumstances.

Who may ride the Express Bus?
The Express Bus Home is exclusively available to UB students, faculty, staff and their friends and family. Where and When Does the Bus Drop Off/Pick up?
The Express Bus Home departs from the Spaulding/Wilkeson end of the Ellicott Tunnel on the North Campus at 11 am on the scheduled departure date. Arrival times are approximate and are traffic- and weather-dependent.
The Upstate New York bus drops off and picks up at the following locations:
- Rochester: Holiday Inn Express, 7502 County Rd. 42, Victor, NY (Departs Buffalo: 11 am)
- Syracuse: Transportation Center, 131 Alliance Bank Parkway, Syracuse, NY
- Albany: Sears parking lot, 1425 Central Ave., near Wolf Rd., Albany
The New York City bus drops off and picks up at this location:
- One Penn Plaza, 33rd St. (between 7th & 8th), New York, NY (Departs Buffalo: 11 am)
On the return trip, pick-up will be at the same locations listed above, at these times:

Does the Bus travel every weekend?
No. The Express Bus Home only travels six times per academic year on the dates noted on the schedule. Review of the dates and demand will be conducted after the pilot.
What do I need to board the bus?
Your ticket purchase confirmation page, your UB photo ID and your guest’s photo ID.
Can I buy a One-Way ticket?
No. Tickets are round-trip only.
How can I purchase tickets?
You will need a credit card, your UB person number and personal and emergency contact information for all passengers (names and phone numbers). Your ticket purchase confirmation page is required to board the bus.
Can I get a refund?
No. There are no refunds under any circumstances. Tickets are valid for one round trip only and only for the dates stamped on your ticket.
Can I purchase tickets for more than one weekend/holiday at a time?
Yes. The online ticketing process will offer you the chance to purchase tickets to one destination for multiple weekends/holidays. To purchase tickets to different destinations, on multiple weekends, the ticketing process must be started over. Please remember that if your plans change you will not be granted a refund for tickets purchased in advance.
Can I change my mind once I purchase tickets?
Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for another date. Plan your trip dates carefully ahead of time. Tickets may be purchased up to 48 hours before departure, based on seating availability. If you absolutely cannot make the trip once your tickets are purchased, please contact the Parking and Transportation Services office, 716-645-3943 so your reservation won’t delay the bus departure.
Are Express Bus Home tickets transferrable? Can I give my reservation to someone else?
Yes, but you must notify UB Parking and Transportation Services 48 hours prior to departure (716-645-3943, ub-parking@buffalo.edu). Your ticket Purchase Confirmation Page is required to board the bus. Also, keep in mind that at least one member of the travelling party must be a UB member and must show a valid UB photo ID to board the bus.
Are the buses handicapped accessible?
Buses used for the trips are not equipped with wheelchair lifts, however you may place a folded wheelchair in the luggage compartment under the bus. Riders must be able to board and deboard independently.
What can I bring on the bus?
Each passenger is allowed one standard size suitcase, which will be placed in the luggage compartment of the bus. In addition, each passenger may bring a small carry-on bag (backpack size). Each passenger is responsible for handling carry-on bags at all times. Food and beverages are allowed on the trip. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
What if I miss the bus?
Passengers are responsible for getting to the bus stop at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Parking and Transportation Services and D & F Travel are not responsible for passenger’s transportation, expenses, or arrangements for alternative transportation if the passenger misses the bus on either the departure or return trip. Tickets are non-refundable.
What do I need to board the bus?
You must show your TICKET purchase confirmation page as proof of trip reservation and payment. University members will be required to show UB photo ID and their guest will need to show proof of ID.
Can I travel on the "Express Bus Home" even if the destination is not my 'home'?
Yes. Just keep in mind you will be responsible for your own transportation and place to stay once you reach your destination.
What happens if there are weather delays? How will we be informed?
During the ticket purchase process you will be asked for email addresses and cell phone number for each rider. UB will make every attempt to reach riders in the event of a cancellation due to extreme weather conditions or emergencies beyond our control. In the event of an emergency or extreme weather individuals may contact UB Parking & Transportation Services at 716-645-7329 or University Police at 645-2222.
Is there one bus going to EACH destination?
There are two buses. The New York City bus is direct. The outgoing Upstate bus makes one stop in each of the major upstate cities: Rochester, Syracuse and Albany, in that order. The returning Upstate bus begins in Albany and travels to Syracuse, then Rochester before returning to Buffalo.
Is there a bathroom/lavatory on the bus?
Yes.
Will you add more buses on these routes?
Express Bus Home is in its pilot year. After the pilot period ends, we will assess the program’s success and buses may be added to accommodate demand.
